European Sport Jujutsu Association (ESJA) is founded in 2005 by several jujutsu instructors from Serbia. It has emerged as a spontaneous solution for several national organizations who were unssatisfied with policies of existing international sport jujutsu organizations. Too high annual membership fees, slow managment, elitism, unfair ranking systems, lack of good will to addapt competition rules to the needs of competitors and coaches - these were only some of the problems and obstacles in front of numerous active jujutsu groups throughout Europe. Therefore, leading jujutsu sensei from Serbia , Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Italy, Czech Republic, England, Slovenia and Macedonia have agreed to test and use ESJA rules. This was the initial phase of creating ESJA. We do not claim to be better nor worse than any other. What differs ESJA from similar jujutsu groups is free membership for all national representatives, and fair relations of equality among all members.
